Lure of the Gospel

Makes no sense

But I took it “line and sinker”

Fish was caught

And hauled gently to the boat

Simple bait

Honest, fair and full of kindness

But these days

Doubtful any good things float.

Got up close

Felt its red and white attraction

No one else

There to complicate my choice

Hanging there

With a strange compelling action

“Enter in”

Heard a strong and manly Voice.

Red for pain

Suffered by most worthy Surety

White for pure

Brand new start that Mercy bought

I bit hard

Nothing else then seemed to matter

I was hooked

Not a struggle, second thought.

Left the waves

Foaming fear and past confusion

Safe and sound

In that Boat of Gospel Light.

You may ask

Was it worth the transformation?

Yes, I’m sure

Just as Day transcends the Night.
