Sculpted Vision

Wouldn’t it be wonderful to be
the o’-pity-me
of someone worth being?

A welcome sight to soothe the hearts
of the lost and weary
what fearsome wisdom
to know the answer
to every query

Deep in the pit-o-me
something unsettling
shaking my tree
don’t care for what it tempts
to bring out-o-me

So tired…
but can’t ignore
what is sent to me

Chipping away at a mental monolithic granite slab
towering over me
the inscription just on the tip-o-mind
now eludes me
teetering, threatens to fall
and crush many

Time to put down the sledge
reach for a ‘tact’ hammer
“hear lies…”
was as far as i’d gotten
(chisel away softly)

When fruit fell from out of the tree
and splattered on many heads
clear evidence…
religion is dead
the final inscription read:
“here lies…
something rotten”

Luke 9:60
“but He said to him, “Allow the dead to bury their own dead; but as for you, go and proclaim everywhere the kingdom of God.”

“To one who has faith, no explanation is necessary. To one without faith, no explanation is possible.”
– Thomas Aquinas
“Dear God, please save us from half the people who think they’re doing God’s work”
“If the primary aim of a Captain were to preserve his ship, he would keep it in port forever”-Saint Thomas Aquinas

Donkey II

He is the Creator
we are His Creatures
we spend way too much time
scrutinizing facial features
Masters and servants
Disciples and Teachers
does it matter who was on top,
at the moment of conception?
The child entrusted to your stewardship now,
hungers for nourishment and direction
Wrested authority is tyranny
and should be rejected
Authority is never taken
only given
Live exactly where you are
to the fullest in Christ
exactly where you are now
some of the most annointed faithful
received instruction while imprisoned
We often miss the message
because the messenger
just doesn’t seem to suit
our expectations
When we contend with donkeys
and fail to ask ourselves…
“how is it that this donkey is speaking?”
We miss the very ONE
we are so desperately seeking.
